Steps For Assembling Bluebird Housing System

This is for making "BOLT" bluebird house.
Check boards for soundness and straightness. Use nominal 1" x 6" boards. Make widths the same.

ALWAYS keep left and right (from front of box) side pieces separate during entire process

SAWING: (Figure 1)

1. Cut two side pieces to 5½" x 10"      
2. Cut back to 4½" x 10"
3.  Cut door to 4 3/8 " x 9 ¾"
4.  Cut roof to 7¼" x 8 ½"
(grain direction is 8½")
5.  Cut floor board to 3 ½" x 4½"
(cut off two back corners ¾" @ 45 ° angle) from long side of piece or 4½" side
6. Cut two roof supports ¾" x 1" x 7" with 45 degree bevel on one end. 7.Cut door stop to 3/8 " x ¾" x 3½"

MARK FOR DRILLING & SAWING

1. Mark door for 1 ½" hole. The center of the hole should be 2" from the top of door and centered from the sides.
2. Mark back panel for 2 holes, one for the box mounting bolt – 5” from the top & centered from the sides, and one to attach the floor - 3/8 " from the bottom and centered from the sides. (Figure 1)

3. Mark left side (7 holes) and rightside (8 holes) - Make sure you understand the difference in hole placement on left and right sides (Figures 2 & 3).

4. Saw cut 4 grooves on the inside of the door 1/16 " deep. Start 3 ½" from the top of the door (with entrance hole) and space grooves appx. ½" apart (Figure 1).

Continue
