This uncommon species is reported to be restricted to moist habitats, moving into drier areas in search of nectar. Males have a yellow-orange forewing with dark spots and a narrow dark border. The dark border is wider in females. This species is larger than the American Copper, which has a bright orange-red forewing with a broad dark border. Bronze Coppers may be encountered from May through September, but primarily in wet areas.
