Wild Indigo Dusky Wing
(Erynnis baptisiae)

In August these butterflies are common in fields containing a variety of clovers, plantain and crown vetch, which has been reported to be the larval host plant. With the increased use of vetch as a cover on slopes this species has become more common. They tend to fly close to the ground but do not fly far when disturbed. They are similar in appearance to several other species of dusky wing that are found primarily in the spring.
